OUTSIDE COORDINATION SERVICES
Whether you use a day-of, month-of or full planning services to design the wedding of your dreams, we require you hire a planner and they must be from our approved list.
We provide a venue manager to assist you through the planning process and an events manager day-of to handle any Barr-Mansion related functions. Neither of these are wedding planners, but will help make your experience more enjoyable and stress-free!
CAPACITIES AND FLOOR PLANS
Barr Mansion has the capacity to service up to 300 guests for seated meals – and utilizing the great lawn we can accommodate any size group. For a more detailed explanation of capacities and to explore some sample layouts, go to:

REQUIREMENTS TO BOOK
Barr Mansion requires a signed contract along with a $6,000 deposit to secure a date.
TOURS
Barr Mansion offers 1 tour per inquiring couples. Clients must fill out the contact form to inquire and tours are by appointment only.

ALCOHOL
Barr Mansion has a full liquor license, therefore our venue takes care of providing all alcohol for events. All clients are required to utilize Barr Mansion alcohol packages. We provide TABC-certified bartenders for all bar services, ice, glassware, mixers, garnishes and all alcohol.
OUTSIDE VENDORS
Barr Mansion does NOT provide wedding planning, services for entertainment (band, DJ, photo booths, etc), floral/decor, officiant, photographer/videographer, transportation or lodging. Those can be sourced through outside vendors, which we have recommendations for above. Planners are the one outside vendor that must be on our approved list.
RAIN PLANS + TENTING
We have rain plan options in both the farmstead and ballroom, depending on setup and guest count. We do allow tenting on the property when using “water weights” to hold it down rather than stakes. Your coordinator will assist you in creating a rain plan option.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If client cancels for any reason, Barr Mansion retains all deposits paid unless event date is re-booked at full price. A change of date is considered a cancellation.
USE OF PROPERTY
Barr Mansion does not schedule more than one event per rental period and clients receive full access to the property including the Mansion, Ballroom, Farmstead and lawn spaces during their rental period.
SECURITY
A Security Guard is provided by Barr Mansion for last 4 hours of on property time. A locked closet and a locked room is also provided to secure all wedding party valuables in the mansion.
Barr Mansion is not responsible for lost/stolen items – it is your responsibility to arrange extra security if desired.
REHEARSALS
Included with your rental is a one-hour rehearsal on a day before your event. The time frame of the rehearsal cannot be scheduled until 12 weeks prior to the event. They are scheduled during business hours in conjunction with our event schedule, and typically mid-day the day prior.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Barr Mansion does not provide on-site accommodations and recommends lodging in areas such as downtown Austin (15-20 minute commute) the Domain (15-20 commute) or Arboretum (15-20 minute commute).
CATERING
Barr Mansion requires clients to use our on-site, organic catering. Couples can opt to bring in cakes, desserts, and food trucks for a late night snack from outside vendors as long as the on-site kitchen facilities are not being used and food and beverage minimums are met.
TASTINGS
We offer quarterly group tastings for all booked clients, these typically take place 3-6 months before your event date. While we do not prepare all pages of menu items, we do prepare our chef’s favorites, Barr Mansion classic dishes, cakes, desserts, and specialty cocktails. In all its typically about 10-15 selections from the food menu and about 4-6 desserts.
We send out invitations 2 months in advance of the next tasting to let you know about the date (please note events booked less than 100 days out are not guaranteed a tasting due to the limited timing). The group tasting is included with your catering package. If you cannot attend your assigned tasting, then we recommend sending trusted tasters in your place.
DECORATIONS
All candles must be in enclosed containers or vases (hurricane vases MUST have a bottom to catch wax). Any damage to our linens caused by candle wax will be subject to a $50 replacement fee.

RENTAL TIME ALLOTMENT
Included with your rental is 5 hours of access prior to the event start time (for wedding party and vendors), 5 hours of event time, and 1 hour of cleanup. Additional time may be purchased at $350 per hour for early access if needed. $5/person/hour for additional reception time. And $1,000 per hour for extra strike time, if needed Additional time must be approved by your timeline due date (4 weeks before event date).
VENUE SOUND ORDINANCE
Music must end by midnight.
PARKING
Our gravel parking lot can accommodate up to 115 cars. We allow for shuttles and charter buses to enter into our lot. We do not provide nor require parking attendants, but this can be arranged for you if desired. We have vendor parking behind the ballroom and pasture parking is used on an “as needed” basis.
PETS/ANIMALS
We are very pet-friendly! We kindly ask that all pets brought on site are up-to-date with their shots/vaccinations for everyone’s safety. No animals are allowed in the mansion at any time.
PHOTO SHOOTS
All clients are allotted a complimentary one-hour slot for a photo session if desired during regular business hours – couples and bridal portraits welcomed!
For non-clients, Barr Mansion charges $150/hour for shoots and may occur during business hours Monday-Thursday only between 10am-4pm. Up-charges are applied depending on the scale of the shoot.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY
Barr complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and all doors are wider than the 32” required for interior doors. We also have approved ramps leading to the Mansion, Ballroom, and Farmstead. We also have men’s and ladies restrooms that meet all the standards required.
